About Mary Ann

Mary Ann Aiello is one of the most respected matrimonial and family law attorneys on Long Island. With over 40 years of dedicated practice in New York matrimonial law, she has built a career defined by rigorous preparation, courtroom skill, and a genuine understanding of what her clients are going through. She founded the firm with the belief that every client — regardless of the complexity of their case — deserves first-class legal representation delivered with compassion and clarity.

Mary Ann's reputation within the legal community is exceptional. She is regularly referred clients by fellow attorneys and sitting judges — a rare distinction that speaks to the respect she commands among her peers. When attorneys and their own family members face divorce, many turn to Mary Ann Aiello. That trust is earned through decades of results.

In addition to her courtroom work, Mary Ann is a skilled mediator who helps couples resolve even the most difficult disputes outside of litigation. She understands that for many families, a negotiated resolution — one that preserves some measure of civility and reduces conflict — is far better for children and adults alike than a prolonged court battle. She brings this perspective to every case, always asking first whether a non-litigated outcome can serve her client's goals, and then preparing thoroughly for trial if it cannot.

Mary Ann has been named to the Super Lawyers list for ten consecutive years, a recognition given to fewer than five percent of attorneys in New York. She is a longtime member of the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, and the American Inns of Court — an organization dedicated to professionalism, ethics, and excellence in the legal profession.

Approach & Philosophy

Mary Ann believes that understanding her client's goals — not just their legal position — is the foundation of effective representation. Before developing a strategy, she listens. She asks the questions other attorneys sometimes skip: What do you actually want your life to look like after this is over? What would feel like a fair outcome? What are you most afraid of? The answers to those questions shape everything that follows.

She approaches every case with full preparation. She does not assume a matter will settle, and she does not take shortcuts in discovery or case development. That thoroughness serves her clients whether the matter resolves through negotiation, mediation, or trial.

About Michael

Michael DiFalco brings 15 years of focused experience in matrimonial and family law to every client he represents. Known for his sharp analytical mind, his thorough preparation, and his genuine accessibility, Michael has built a strong reputation as an attorney clients can count on — not just in the courtroom, but throughout the entire process of their case.

Michael handles some of the most complex divorce and family law disputes filed in Nassau County and across the New York metropolitan area. His cases routinely involve contested custody arrangements, complex marital estates, contested maintenance claims, and high-conflict disputes that require a skilled trial attorney. He approaches each matter with the discipline and strategy of someone who has been in the courtroom more times than most attorneys his age — and with the energy and drive of someone who still takes every case personally.

He has earned a perfect 10 out of 10 AVVO rating and has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star — distinctions that reflect both peer recognition and the client reviews that consistently praise his dedication, his communication, and his ability to get results. Michael is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and remains deeply committed to the local legal community.

One thing clients consistently note about Michael: he is reachable. He communicates by phone, email, and text. When a client has a question, needs an update, or has a development in their case, they can reach him — not just a receptionist. That accessibility is part of his commitment to his clients.

Approach & Philosophy

Michael believes that the best outcomes in family law are achieved by combining meticulous preparation with strategic flexibility. He builds every case from the ground up: thorough discovery, clear analysis of the law, and a deep understanding of his client's goals. He does not take a cookie-cutter approach — he tailors strategy to the specific facts, the specific judge, and the specific opposing party in each case.

He is direct with clients about the realistic range of outcomes, even when that means delivering difficult news. He has found that clients who understand their situation clearly are better positioned to make good decisions — and that honest counsel, delivered with empathy, is the foundation of trust.

About Leah

Leah Zweig joined Aiello & DiFalco LLP following her graduation from Fordham University School of Law and her admission to the New York Bar in March 2025. She brings to the firm not only her legal training but a genuine, deeply personal commitment to advocating for individuals — particularly domestic violence survivors — who are navigating the family court system during the most vulnerable periods of their lives.

Before attending law school, Leah worked as a case manager at Sanctuary for Families, one of New York's leading organizations serving survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking. That experience gave her an on-the-ground understanding of the practical and emotional realities faced by abuse survivors interacting with the legal system — an understanding that most attorneys, even experienced ones, simply do not have. She knows what these clients need, how to earn their trust, and how to build legal strategies that account for the complexity of their situations.

Leah's primary focus areas include orders of protection, custody matters involving domestic violence, and family law proceedings for survivors seeking safety and stability for themselves and their children. She works closely with Mary Ann Aiello and Michael DiFalco, drawing on the firm's deep well of experience while bringing fresh energy and a specialized perspective to every case she handles.

Approach & Philosophy

Leah approaches every client with a commitment to being heard first and advised second. She understands that for many of the people she represents — particularly those coming from abusive or controlling relationships — having a legal advocate who truly listens and takes their situation seriously is itself transformative. She brings a trauma-informed approach to all of her work, meaning she understands how trauma affects memory, decision-making, and behavior — and she builds her advocacy strategy with that understanding in mind.

Key Strengths

Orders of protection
Domestic violence family law
Custody for DV survivors
Trauma-informed advocacy
Family Court proceedings
Legal separation
